Call for Proposals and Information Submission: Visual Sculptures and Giant Puppets

For Artists Throughout the Country and Jerusalem Residents

25.3.2024, Shushan Purim

The Train Theater is working to host its first Purim Parade (Adloyada) on Shushan Purim! Imagine a procession of giant puppets, extraordinary visual sculptures, dance groups, music, colorful pennants, and costumes. We know it’s hard to imagine right now, during these sad times, but is it true that, for a moment, we brought a smile to the corners of your mouth?

Jerusalem’s inaugural Adloyada will center around the little heroes in our lives – our children – who face these times with bravery and resilience. Despite everything happening, we aspire for our courageous boys and girls to enjoy a happy childhood. In literature, cinema, and life there are many heroic girls and boys. There are also courageous animals, who, much like children, bring delight – this is why we decided to include them too

Some girls and boys are heroes with supernatural powers, like Pippy Longstocking, who can lift a horse, or Danidin, the invisible child who can hide from thieves. Some children embark on adventures, like Emil and the Detectives or the Hasamba gang, who solve every mystery. Some children face dark and difficult realities, like Avigail, who was returned from Hamas captivity, or Maya, who cared for her dog and protected it even as a hostage. Some children are mischievous, and change the grown-ups’ rules, like Max and Moritz, the number one pranksters, or Nina at the Queen’s Banquet, who teaches the Queen of England table manners for children. Some children will help others no matter what price they will pay, like Hanna’s Sabbath Dress, who helped an old wanderer, or the boy from the Golden Heart Flower, who set out on a heroic journey to save his mother. There are also brave animals who would do anything to help, like Azit Paratrooper Dog and the dogs who are fighting now and protecting the soldiers in the army. Some children embark on a journey in the imagination, like Itamar who climbed walls, or the Little Match Girl, who found solace in the imagination. Some set out on a coming-of-age journey and discover that they can do it alone, like Kaspion, the small fish, or Ann Shirley, who, despite the hardship, followed her own path. The children are our heroes, and for both them and the adults who care for them and raise them, we want to create the most beautiful and exciting Adloyada ever!

So, despite the situation, we invite you to join us in creating an Adloyada in Jerusalem on Shushan Purim. We will rejoice and grieve, as well as create and imagine a better world for us all.

We would be delighted to hear from you, explore the potential for this event, and receive budget proposals. Please note that this does not constitute an obligation to hold the event and/or commit to the selection of any offers.

Provided the event takes place, the Adloyada will have two submission tracks: a professional track for artists throughout the country, and a community track for Jerusalem residents.

Submission deadline is 28.12 | Zoom meeting for those interested*: 18.12 at 16:00 Professional Track | 18:00 Community Track

*Each session runs 90 minutes

*The Zoom meeting will be in Hebrew
