Workshop on Animation - Inspiration from Material
Michael VogelAnimation is the basis for all puppetry. Breathing life into the materials, being inspired by the objects, not forcing your own will on them when you develop a scene, is essential. But different animators will produce different animations.
This workshop will start from basic materials and will try to show how important the first
impulses can be to the animation before finding out as much as possible about the figures.
Where is it really necessary to build, construct or give more structure?
What is the individual contribution of the movement of the performer? What kind of dialogues happen? How do they sound? Is it possible to support the sound with our own voice or to add words?
Starting with different materials, e.g. the elements water and earth, or paper and foil, to which we add their own lives, we will improvise pictures and scenes, trying to find out as much as possible about abstract, connected or complete figures.
Please bring an object or a simple material which you like, which you feel something for (good or bad), which you are curious about and which you would like to get to know.
Please note that the ticket sold for the first day also includes the second day (19-20/8/2026)
